Jerome Robbins’ 1958 “ballet in sneakers” comes alive for modern audiences in this stunning film. Featuring Robert Prince’s original jazz score, and using dancers from the New York City Ballet, the film takes dance into the urban spaces of New York City and makes a great companion piece to Robbins’ better-known choreography in the 1961 film
West Side Story.
National Ballet of Canada Artist-in-Residence Rex Harrington will introduce the film and speak about Jerome Robbins choreography.
