2014 Oscar® Nominees: See all of the 2014 documentary feature nominees.
Already being touted by critics as an Oscar front-runner Jehane Nougaim's The Square is a riveting account of the recent Egyptian Revolution, as a nation strives to create a new society without corruption, brutuality, tyranny and greed. Told through the perspective of six different protestors, it's an intimate glimpse of the still-evolving political landscape, giving context to what these revolutionaries are fighting for. Starting from the victorious overthrowing a thirty-year dictatorship to the current issues of a "transitional" miltary regime, The Square demonstrates how the revolutionaries' battle has not stopped. It's a war for freedom even after the battle has been won. Robin Smith, Hot Docs
