In 2013, filmmaker Pan Nalin (Samsara) travelled to
Kumbh Mela, one of the world’s most extraordinary
religious events that only takes place every twelve
years. As one of the tens of millions taking part in this
Hindu pilgrimage, he encounters remarkable men of
mind and meditation, some facing the dilemma of
embracing or renouncing the world. Faith Connections
explores the diverse and deeply moving stories of the
individuals he meets along the way, including a young
runaway trying to survive, a yogi who is raising an
abandoned child, Sadhus pontificating on spirituality,
a mother desperately looking for her lost son, and an
ascetic who keeps calm by smoking cannabis. Through
55 days and nights, three rivers and one faith, they are
all connected in this spectacular display of devotion.
