The Last Impresario
Michael White just might be the most famous person
you’ve never heard of. The London theatre and film
impresario produced more than 200 shows and movies
over the past 50 years including Oh! Calcutta!, The Rocky
Horror Picture Show and Monty Python and the Holy
Grail. He irrevocably shaped London’s cultural scene
in the 70s, introducing Merce Cunningham, Pina
Bausch and Yoko Ono to London audiences. Known
for surrounding himself with iconic figures, White
(now in his seventies) continues to be the life of the
party. Filmmaker Gracie Otto introduces viewers to
this larger-than-life phenomenon through interviews
with White and 50 of his closest friends including Kate
Moss, Anna Wintour, John Cleese, Naomi Watts, John
Waters, Richard O’Brien and Barry Humphries. The Last
Impresario is a vibrant tribute to a creative nurturer,
collaborator and fascinating entertainer.
