Description

Award-winning, internationally-recognized classical and flamenco guitarist/composer Andre Feriante is bringing his original sound to Sedona! There will be one show on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. on the Goldenstein Stage at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre, presented by the Sedona International Film Festival.

Feriante will present a version of his 'StringStories’ — a multi-instrument show on guitar, ukulele and banjo, with a seasonal twist.

He will take his audience on a mystical Odyssey into the realms of dream and inner beauty presenting an eclectic blend of styles of music — Spanish guitar classics, Bach, Leonard Cohen, Beatles, jazz standards, original music and improvisation, original vocals and song-poems s by Rumi and Lorca.

Feriante creates his own sound, an original blend of flamenco, classical, Brazilian, a bit of blues, and all of it with a hint of intimacy.  His musical moods range from romantic and sensual to fiery passion and back again to soothing introspection. He has been described as “an impressionistic artist who paints with music.”

Born in Italy and raised between Rome and the Northwest, Andre’s attitude is definitely European, in that he believes that classical music can appeal to people of all ages and walks of life. And his diverse fan base affirms that conviction.

During Andre’s 30-year career, he has performed concerts in Europe, the Caribbean, South America and throughout the U.S. Highlights include performances at Carnegie Hall, Seattle Art Museum, Benaroya Hall, Gates Foundation, local chapter of United Nations, and countless private performances.

Andre has established himself in the Northwest as a professional artist and composer for the guitar. He has been performing throughout Puget Sound for over 25 years in a wide array of settings — from theaters to festivals, music clubs, corporate/private events, and restaurants.

Feriante debuted his concert career in Rome at age of 17. As a student in a 1980s master class, he won early praise from the great guitar master Andres Segovia. Andre’s other teachers include Henry Rivas, as well as master classes with David Russell.

In his special concert “StringStories,” he combines music and narrative to share tales from his own musical odyssey — sometimes humorous, sometimes poetic and always heartfelt.

“If I can help to make the world a more peaceful place with my art, I'm doing my job,” said Feriante. “I do this by offering a calming sound that brings people together and says “Relax, savor the moment, forego fear, and honor life and the people around you”
