In this comedy-drama, 82-year-old curmudgeon Raymond (Frank Langella) tells his family that he has made arrangements to be euthanized in Oregon. His daughter Kate (Christina Applegate) is determined to stop him. But it’s Kate’s husband Brian (Billy Crudup) who gets the unlucky task of driving his father-in-law from NY to Oregon and convincing him that he really doesn’t want to die. The problem: Brian hates Raymond. And with Raymond’s not-entirely-welcome wife (Mary Kay Place) tagging along for the journey, it’s just in-laws and the open road for the next 3000 miles.
