Description

Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and often ranks as one of the most "livable"—but for whom? With the third least affordable housing market in the world, the city has found itself obsessed with housing, perhaps not unlike Toronto is increasingly finding itself. Building condos as commodities and evicting tenants (even, recently, seniors from a retirement home), residents meanwhile protest class disparity and try desperately to curb rampant homelessness. Award-winning filmmaker Charles Wilkinson (Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World) delves into the root factors of this crisis and tells the human stories of those who are struggling to survive in, and even love, a city that outpaces them.
