Description

The music of the late John Denver is like an old friend, outlasting trends and standing the test of time. Join acclaimed performer Jim Curry for this tribute to the music of one of the most beloved singer/songwriters ever to grace the stage.

Jim Curry will bring his band and perform his tribute to the music of John Denver at the “Roundup at the Ranch” event on Sunday, Oct. 1, presented by the Sedona International Film Festival. This special fundraising event will include an outdoor concert on the lawn of the Indian Creek Ranch in Cornville and an Old West Bar-B-Que.

Tribute artist Jim Curry — whose voice was heard in the CBS-TV movie “Take Me Home: The John Denver Story” — has performed Denver’s music in sold out shows throughout the country and has emerged as today’s top performer of Denver’s vast legacy of multi-platinum hits.

Curry’s uncanny ability to mirror John’s voice and clean-cut look takes you back to the time when “Rocky Mountain High” “Sunshine” “Calypso” and “Annie’s Song” topped the charts, and his popular music had the heartfelt message of caring for the earth and caring for each other.

“Curry and his band were here in Sedona when the Sedona Performing Arts Center first opened. It was the first live show in the venue and sold out all 750 seats,” said festival director Patrick Schweiss. “We are thrilled to bring him and the band back for an encore performance for this special fundraiser.”

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for this special outdoor concert event. You will be treated to an Old West Bar-B-Que meal from the Montana Barbecue company with all the cowboy fixin’s.

“We are making it a total Wild-West event — think diamonds and denim!” said Beverly Hurff, the festival’s Board Chair and Events Chair. “Bring out your inner cowboy or cowgirl! Put on your best Western attire and join us for a fun-filled outdoor concert.”

Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl in the spirit of the Old West.

Earle Weatherwax will host this year’s event at Georgia and Earle’s Indian Creek Ranch in Cornville. He is a supporter, board member and friend of the Sedona International Film Festival.

“Roundup at the Ranch” will take place at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 1. Tickets are only $55 per person. A limited number of VIP tables are available for $750 (for up to 10 guests). All tickets include the concert, the Bar-B-Que meal and a non-alcoholic beverage. There will also be a no-host, cash bar available.
