Showings

Mary D. Fisher Theatre Fri, Dec 15, 2017 1:00 PM

Description

The battle of good versus evil is explored in this third book of a trilogy by Sedona local, author JC “Jack” Ernst. His presentation will take place at the Mary D. Fisher theater, on Friday, December 15th at 1:00 pm. Admission is $6.00.

Ernst will discuss both the process of writing with all of its joys and challenges as well as the novel he penned allowing his characters to mature into their life’s purpose using all of the experience and intuition they have gleaned from their exploits around the world for the cause of truth and all that is good.

Jack will highlight how he began by writing what he knew and expanded his work to include symbolism and inspiration from his world travels, another of his bucket list items. He will cover how the author can create a “backstory” for his or her characters, understanding the motivation of the protagonist and the antagonist. How to create believable dialog and how much description to use in setting a scene.

The face value of a situation or person is not always what it seems to be and Jack will discuss how to add twists to a plot with out disappointing or angering the reader. Additional devices such as an authority figure in the story to help share what could otherwise be considered dry facts will be demonstrated.

A trip to a reporters’ convention allows a newspaper editor to explain how love trumps pride. While our protagonists, Jake & Sherry Rader leave their cozy life with family and friends on an assignment to neutralize Ieke Rollands, the megalomaniac strongman, who guides his companion Kareem Razier toward self-indulgent aggression and destruction. Ieke discovers an ancient and powerful device that he plans to use to undermine the order of the Knights of St. John. Unfortunately for him, the tables are turned and Jake and Sherry, also knights, confront Ieke. The final showdown produces surreal and entirely unexpected outcomes. In the end the reader will ask him or herself his or her own true definition of life’s purpose.
