Description

In support of Asylee Women Enterprise

With weeks of heartbreaking stories and images of children being separated from their families at the U.S. border flooding our newsfeeds, it is impossible to not feel shocked, angry, or sad. We invite you to get a deeper understanding of the ongoing migrant crisis by revisiting Rebecca Cammisa's Oscar-nominated Which Way Home, a documentary that has only gained poignancy in the decade since it was released. A group of young, unaccompanied Central American children fight to make their way through Mexico to reach the United States and jump the border to a new home. We follow the struggles of these would-be illegal aliens as they face poverty, dangerous train rides and potential predators, keeping their sights set on the possibility of a better life that awaits.

Followed by a special Skype Q&A with film director Rebecca Cammisa and Tiffany Nelms, Executive Director of Asylee Women Enterprise, moderated by Hot Docs programmer Aisha Jamal.

On-site donations will be collected for Asylee Women Enterprise (AWE), a non-profit organization which helps women seeking asylum to rebuild their lives by providing transitional housing, companionship and opportunities to connect within the larger community and each other.

In English and Spanish with English subtitles
