It’s 1989 in Latvia and the political situation is a turbulent one. When 9-year-old Paula arrives at her cousins’ home, she comes face-to-face with an existence that’s simpler and more light-hearted than anything she’s used to. Here, for example, there are no parents watching your every move. But when she learns of the news that her parents are to be divorced, she’s forced to conclude that whatever the current political developments in Latvia, it’s family that matters most.
