TAILGATING FAQ

GENERAL

How will this process work?
You will select the spots you would like to use for each game and pay the reservation fee online. You will receive a confirmation email. Please note: this will be the only correspondence from us unless there is an issue! You will no longer receive an email confirming your spots the week of the game, as you will already have received confirmation at the time of purchase.

On gameday, you will check in with the workers at the barricades. They will give you a parking pass to display in your vehicle and will walk you to your spots.

What time does the tailgate park open?
The tailgate park opens and live music begins 3 hours prior to kickoff.

What size are the spaces?
Each space is 9’ x 21.5’

How many spaces should I reserve?
It depends on how many vehicles you will be bringing, if you are setting up a tent, tables, the size of your tent, the number of people coming to your tailgate, etc. Each space is 9’ x 21.5’.

Examples:
For 1 vehicle and 1 tent, we recommend a minimum of 2 spaces
For 2 vehicles and 2 tents, we recommend a minimum of 4-5 spaces

**PLEASE NOTE- YOU ARE ONLY ENTITLED TO THE SPOT(S) THAT YOU HAVE RESERVED AND PAID FOR! If you reserve three spots, then your group’s vehicle(s), tents, tvs, grills, etc. MUST be within those three spots. You cannot use your three spots for a tailgate and then park your vehicle elsewhere in the tailgate lot. You will be asked to move your vehicle to one of the spots that you have paid for, or to one of the free parking lots surrounding the stadium. Failure to comply will result in the vehicle being towed at the owner’s expense.

 FEES

Is the fee per game or per season?
The fee is per game and is non-refundable.

I am a parent of a football player, band member, or spirit squad member who receives tickets from the pass list. Do I still need to pay the fee to reserve a tailgate spot?
Yes.

I am a season ticket holder. Do I still need to pay the fee to reserve a tailgate spot?
Yes.

I am a TTU student. Do I need to pay a fee to reserve a tailgate spot?
If you choose to tailgate in the Student Tailgate Lot (grass area), you do not need to register or pay a fee. If you would like to tailgate in the 98.5 KISS FM Tailgate Lot with reserved spaces, then YES, you would need to pay the fee.

I am a TTU staff member who is reserving spaces for an event sponsored by a campus department. Do I need to pay the fee?
Contact jratti@tntech.edu at least one week prior to the game. We recommend reaching out as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee availability of specific spaces.

My group would like to split the cost of the reservation fee among several different people. Can we do that?
Our reservation system does not have that capability. One person from the group would need to make the reservation and the other members could reimburse them.

What is the fee for an RV?
That will depend on the size of the RV and how many spaces you need to reserve. Each space is Each space is 9’ x 21.5’. Please remember to leave enough space to safely maneuver the RV, and add additional spaces if you are also bringing another vehicle, large tents, etc.

 RESERVATIONS

Can I reserve the same spots all season?
If those spots are available for all seven games and you pay the fee for all seven games, then yes. This would need to be done early, as those specific spots may not be available for all games if you wait to reserve them. Once they have been reserved by someone else, they are unavailable. You must make a reservation for each individual game.

How am I supposed to know exactly how many spots I need all season? Some of these games are months away.
We suggest planning ahead and communicating with others in your group.

I would like the same spots that I had last year, but it says they are unavailable. Is there anything you can do for me?
Unfortunately, no. You will need to select different spots from what is showing as available online.

I would like to be next to a specific group. Can I call or email to request that?
No. We are no longer able to honor requests like this, as it becomes very complicated and requires other groups to be moved. If you would like to be next to a certain group, we suggest that you book the reservation together under one name.

Can I call to ask where other groups are so that I can reserve spots near them?
Unfortunately, due to a limited staff, we cannot do this. You will need to coordinate with these other groups yourself prior to making the reservation.

Can I pay for a spot or add an additional spot the day of the game?
No. We cannot accept any additional reservations after the portal has closed on game weeks.

Is there a deadline to reserve spaces?
Yes. The tailgate lot portal will close at 4:30 PM on Wednesday each week of a home game. This is approximately 48 hours before gameday and gives our staff time to create maps, check-in lists, parking passes, etc.

My son/daughter is in the band. Should I park in the tailgate lot since the band will perform there?
If you plan to arrive a few hours early and actively tailgate, then you are welcome to reserve spots! We would love to have you hang out, meet other fans, and enjoy the live music with us!

If you plan to use the spaces just for parking and only intend to be in the tailgate park for a few minutes to watch them perform, then NO. We ask that you utilize any of the free parking surrounding the stadium instead and walk to the tailgate lot to watch the performance. These lots are very close.

I reserved spots already, but I have decided not to tailgate anymore. Can I get a refund?
Tailgate spots are non-refundable.

I reserved my spots already, but I have decided I want to be in different spots. Can I change my reservation?
Due to the number of requests and limited staffing, we are not able to accommodate this type of request.

I reserved four spots already, but I now only need two spots. How can I get a partial refund for the spots I am no longer using?
We are not able to offer partial refunds. All reservations are non-refundable.

I reserved spots already, and I am no longer able to tailgate. I understand that I cannot receive a refund, but do I still need to let you know?
We would appreciate that! You can send an email to jratti@tntech.edu. Knowing this ahead of time will make it less confusing for our student workers who are handling the parking passes.

Why do I need to provide information about the vehicle(s) my group is bringing?
Each vehicle will receive a parking pass that must be displayed in the windshield. You will receive the parking pass when you check in at the barricade on gamedays. Each parking pass will be registered to a specific vehicle.

What if I do not know the vehicle information? I will be driving a rental car.

Please enter "rental" for the vehicle information.

How do I change the vehicle that I registered? I registered one vehicle but now I plan to bring a different vehicle instead.
Please contact jratti@tntech.edu at least 48 hours prior to gameday.

Do I need to keep my parking pass all season?
No. The parking pass is only valid for the date specified. You will receive a new pass each week.

I never received an email with my parking pass. What should I do?
Nothing- you will not receive any parking passes via email. They will be given out as you check in on gameday.

Can I pick up my parking pass the day before?
No.

 GAMEDAY CHECK-IN

Do I need to print my confirmation email or show it on my phone?
No. You will just need to give the name the reservation was made under to the worker at the gate.

Can I park in my spots the day before the game/leave my vehicle overnight?
No. Classes will be going on the day before, and that parking lot will be used by commuter students. There is also no reason to do this- once you have paid for the spaces, they will be reserved for you and held until you arrive on gameday.

RVs can request special accommodations in advance by emailing jratti@tntech.edu. The earliest RVs will be allowed into the tailgate park to park overnight is 7:00 PM, as our staff will still need time to label the spots once classes end and commuter students have vacated the lot. Requests must be made at least 48 hours prior to gameday.

Once I have entered the tailgate park and have my parking pass, can I leave and come back?
If you must, but we ask that you limit the number of times you enter/exit the tailgate park in your vehicle, as this creates unnecessary traffic.

The people next to me are in my spot. What do I do?
Please find a staff member.

Can I park horizontally in my spots?
Yes, as long as your vehicle fits within the confines of the spots you have reserved. If your vehicle would be partially in someone else’s spot, then no.
