Description

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with Old Town Center for the Arts (OTCA) to bring movies to Cottonwood!

“Monday Movies on Main” will return on Monday, June 21, with the Cottonwood premiere of “Johnny Cash: American Rebel” at 7 p.m. at Old Town Center for the Arts.

The film festival and OTCA have created a safe environment to enjoy films on the big screen, following all recommended guidelines and safety protocols. The OTCA has been set up with special physically-distanced seating arrangements and will be limited to 50 attendees. Special cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing measures will be taken; and masks or facial coverings will be required of all attendees, staff and volunteers.

Movie concessions will be available, including beer, wine, soft drinks, water, popcorn and a selection of movie candy.

JOHNNY CASH: AMERICAN REBEL
Celebrate the larger-than-life Johnny Cash, with an epic tribute to this gifted artist, fighter of causes, and legendary entertainer. Featuring original interviews with his family, friends, and a broad array of international superstars.

“Johnny Cash: American Rebel” is built around 12 essential Johnny Cash tracks spanning four decades that each deliver the passion, musicality and messages against war, injustice, racism and prejudice, including “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Jackson,” “San Quentin,” “Man in Black,” “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” “Ring of Fire” and “Hurt.” Each song illustrates a chapter in his life, as well the story of an ever-changing America from the 1950s to modern day, as told through interviews, archival concert footage, photographs and personal artifacts from the Cash family.

The film features exclusive interviews with Johnny Cash’s family, friends and admirers, including Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Rodney Crowell, record executive Clive Davis, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, John Mellencamp, Kid Rock, producer Rick Rubin, Willie Nelson and others.

It marks the first time Cash’s son John Carter Cash, daughter Rosanne Cash and June Carter’s daughter Carlene Carter have all appeared in a film about him.

“There were so many different facets to him, such an undefinable depth to his character,” John Carter Cash said. “You could see it in his eyes, and it brought on mystery, and it brought on a need for, perhaps, understanding him in a deeper way and this is part of the appeal of who the man was.”

“Johnny Cash: American Rebel” will show at the Old Town Center for the Arts on Monday, June 21 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission and $9.00 for Film Festival members and $10 for students.
