Description

Poetic and ultimately powerful …” - Barry Hertz, Globe and Mail

Following environmentalist and naturalist Zoe Lucas “Geographies of Solitude” is a documentary exploring the remote strip of sand where Zoe has called home for the last 40 years.  Sable Island, 300 km off the coast of Nova Scotia, can only be reached by private charter plane, making it the perfect place to find rare ecosystems and accordingly a valuable and important piece of land for the scientific community.

Premiering at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury, the documentary went on to win the Best Canadian Feature Documentary as well as the Earl A. Glick Emerging Canadian Filmmaker Award at the 2022 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. To date, the film has won 19 awards nationally and internationally, as well as being nominated for an IDA Documentary Award.
