Field of Screams is a rural, occult horror-comedy that follows a group of friends who, while cleaning out an old farmhouse, run afoul of a killer scarecrow. The group must put their personal differences aside if they're going to survive the wrath of Billy the Scarecrow.
Field of Screams was inspired by slasher movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th and rural horror like Children of the Corn and The Last of Us. Field of Screams also makes use of folk magic and neo-pagan practices, the inspirations for which range from books about folk and neo-pagan magic to our favorite pieces of magical media like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Die Golem, Pumpkinhead, The Craft, and Practical Magic.
The movie's themes revolve around love, loss, the definition of family, and the process of grieving. Field of Screams explores what happens when people grieve and how those processes look different depending each person's unique circumstances - all against the backdrop of a slasher movie featuring killer scarecrows.
