Description

The city of Sedona in collaboration with the Community Library Sedona is seeking a Sedona Poet Laureate and Youth Poet Laureate. Each will serve as ambassadors for a two-year term with the purpose of elevating literary education, promoting an appreciation of poetry in our community and inspiring an emerging generation of poets and readers within our local schools.

A work group reviewed 13 applications and selected seven finalists. This group consisted of the city of Sedona Arts and Culture Specialist, the Executive Director of the Community Library Sedona and several local literary colleagues, including Rex Arrasmith, a widely published poet who spearheaded this initiative and Christopher Fox Graham, a poet who has been running the Sedona Poetry Slam for 16 years.

The public is encouraged to attend and support this creative endeavor. Please come and cheer on our local poets!

The finalists will perform and be scored by eight judges at three different events.
• Community Library Sedona:
Wednesday, April 16 from 6-8pm
• Mary D. Fisher Theatre: Monday, April 21 from 7-9pm
• Tlaquepaque’s Patio De Los Campanas: Wednesday, April 28 from 6-8pm

The two highest-ranking will be notified and appointed to be the 2025 Sedona Poet Laureates by the City Council on May 13 at the council meeting.
