Description

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to partner with Steps to Recovery Homes and BMO Harris Bank for a one-night only special encore of the award-winning film “When a Man Loves a Woman” — starring Meg Ryan, Andy Garcia, Ellen Burstyn and Philip Seymour Hoffman — on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.

Tickets are just a $7 donation with proceeds benefiting Steps to Recovery Homes.

“When a Man Loves a Woman” is a 1994 American romantic drama written by Al Franken and Ronal Bass.

A wife and mother of two daughters, Alice Green (Meg Ryan) has developed a severe drinking problem. While her husband, Michael (Andy Garcia), has been patient in dealing with this issue, it soon becomes clear that he has been enabling her alcoholism. When her addiction threatens her children's safety, Alice decides to enter a rehab clinic. Upon returning home, she finds that her new lifestyle causes an unexpected rift with Michael, leading to some soul-searching for the couple.

This special evening and encore screening will benefit the individual that doesn't have the money to get into a recovery program, says Damien Browning, CEO and Program Director of Steps to Recovery Homes.

“Most people they're struggling with addiction have lost everything and it is hard to find any place that will give them a chance. The money we raised from this showing will go to scholarship people right off the streets into our program and help these individuals with their first couple weeks so they do not get discouraged with finances,” says Browning. “This will maximize their success rate and give a chance to obtain long term recovery and as a direct result help our community as a whole by creating a healthier, safer place for all of us to live.”
