Iowa's Misbehaving Women
Friday, Mar 1, 2019 5:30 PM
Cheryl Mullenback will be presenting “Iowa’s Misbehaving Women” featuring women who have been forgotten or overlooked in our state.

They weren’t actually “misbehaving” but you may know Laurel Thatcher Ulrich’s saying “Well-behaved women seldom make history”- the talk is a spin-off of that saying. Examples are: Iowa City mayor in 1922, Emma Harvat; Helen Hays Gleason, Coe grad who served the troops in WWI France; Ethel Fischer, Des Moines’ first female police officer in 1915. Not all are Linn Co connections, but she will include some who are!
