THE WAR OF THE WORLDS: A LIVE RADIO DRAMA

Showings

Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts Fri, Oct 4 7:30 PM

Description

In 1938 Orson Welles and CBS radio made history by terrifying the nation when they broadcast this story of Martians invading our planet.  The broadcast was actually a radio adaptation of H.G. Wells’ famous science fiction novel that has since been made into several movies.  This year, Dr. Joe Burns and the Columbia team will do their own version of this historic broadcast for a live “studio” audience in Hainkel Hall.  The production will feature sound effects created live on stage and will actually be broadcast on local radio as it is happening.  If you are a fan of radio, science fiction, and/or theatre, this is a special, one-night only event you don’t want to miss!  Presented as part of Fanfare, 2024.
