Something is just not right for Paula Beer’s Laura. After abandoning a planned vacation at sea due to bad vibes, Laura convinces her peeved boyfriend Jakob (Philip Froissat) to drive her home. Along the way, the two are involved in a freak car accident that leaves Laura shaken, but oddly unscathed. She is warmly welcomed into a rural family home by the morose Betty (Barbara Auer), who is more than happy to tend to her every need. Yet Betty is constantly frozen in a trance, fixated on some invisible connection to her new house guest. When Laura asks to extend her stay, Betty is more than happy to oblige, until her husband and son return home, shocked by their houseguest . Hitchcock enthusiast Christian Petzold (Phoenix, Barbara) elegantly weaves a restrained yet eerie mystery that, at times, resembles a Germanic Rebecca, but is more interested in the invisible grief that can haunt us than in any ghosts.
Cast: Paula Beer, Barbara Auer, Matthias Brandt, Enno Trebs
