About the Dance: Argentine Tango is first and foremost a social dance. Considered the most expressive and challenging of all social dances, tango has a mystique, which is born out of its history from the barrios of Buenos Aires to the salons of Paris in the 1920 and 30's.  While Tango reached its zenith in the 1940's "Golden Age," it experienced a revival, beginning in the 1980's, which continues to this day.

Ellen Chrystal studied, performed and taught dance throughout her life.  She discovered tango in New York City in the mid-1990's and studied in NYC and  Buenos Aires with many of the greatest teachers of Argentine Tango, including many of those who are featured in this film. Ellen performed for TangoFest 2000 at Broadway's Town Hall in New York City.  She has enjoyed traveling, dancing and teaching tango in cities around the U.S.A., Costa Rica and Europe.  She has been dancing, and teaching ongoing, open tango classes in the Hudson Valley for over 18 years. "As a dancer, I love improvisation.  My hope is to help students discover their own creative movement, connection and expression within the structure and freedom of Argentine Tango."
