In 2016, during the world’s largest refugee crisis since WWII, conservative, mid-western Nebraska resettled more refugees per capita than any other state. With bigotry and racism on the rise and America’s refugee resettlement program hanging by a thread, “A Home Called Nebraska” is the surprising, emotional story of mid-western welcome, unlikely friendships and a re-vitalized American Dream.

Two Syrian refugee siblings receive official legal documents to permanently join their father in the United States. However, when the plane lands in JFK, they are taken into custody for interrogation by Custom and Border Police.
