This Spanish language version of the 1931 classic was filmed using many of the
same sets, costumes and props as its English counterpart, using Spanish-speaking
actors and filming often in the evening after the English film had wrapped for the
day. Making two versions of the same film simultaneously was Universal’s
attempt to maximize returns in two markets. This Spanish version was considered
forgotten for many decades, rarely ever seen. We are proud to present the
Universal Studios 2017 restoration. Some say it’s even better than the English
version!
