Based on Louis Hemon's 1913 novel, Maria Chapdelaine tells the story of a young woman having to choose between three suitors promising each a different life. Faced with events that jostle her, Maria must then take his destiny into her own hands and decide what her future will be.
Shot in Quebec over 2020, the film is Directed by Sebastien Pilote, whose film The Fireflies are Gone won Best Canadian Film at TIFF 2018. Mary Chapdelaine is expected to make a similar splash when it opens at the festival this year, and we are thrilled to be premiering the film in Ottawa shortly after.
