Description

Private Eyes, a Tribute to Daryl Hall & John Oates, was formed in 2018. Their mission was clear and precise: to deliver the timeless music from the best-selling duo of all time with a craftsman’s precision, as well as aiming for the visual blend of their classic late 70’s to early 80’s image. This Los Angeles-based band is one of only a few H&O tributes in the US, and the only one to feature album-accurate renditions of all the greatest hits, as well as some choice fan favorites.

Founder, Music Director, and Bassist Chris Willshire undertook a nationwide search for the right vocalist who could replicate the blue-eyed soul of Daryl Hall, only to find frontman Mark Wilson in his own San Fernando Valley backyard. Mark is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, and his diverse background includes having toured with Frankie Valli as one of the Four Seasons, serving as an opening act with the Marcels for Tina Turner, and contributing background vocals for John Denver & Garth Brooks. He has also been a member of the Grammy-nominated Los Angeles Jazz Choir.

A TV editor by day, Bassist Chris Willshire’s credits include promo material for such CW network shows as Supernatural, The Flash, Arrow, and Black Lightning, in addition to episodes of Bravo’s Top Chef. He met future Oates, Nate Beausoleil, while working on the HGTV shows Flip or Flop and House Hunters. Nate is an in-demand Field Audio Engineer for various HGTV shows, as well as for indie films and documentaries. Nate also keeps busy editing and mixing audio for a variety of clients and projects.

Drummer Mat Miranda has performed at multiple Disney properties and on international cruise ship tours. He is also an acclaimed drum line instructor and a Top 3 finalist at the Indoor Drumline World Competition.

Andre Ribeiro doubles as the band’s soundscape secret weapon, recreating H & O’s trademark synth textures. He has extensive live experience as a drummer, bassist, and keyboardist/programmer, as well as providing lighting and production services for such stars as Mumford and Sons, Ashlee Simpson, and Queen Latifah. Andre was actually the original drummer for Private Eyes.

APJ is an accomplished saxophonist and vocalist who also rocks a mean MIDI wind controller to add sounds such as percussion, trumpet, and various synth textures.

He has performed with such stars as Rick James and the Stone City Band, The Mary Jane Girls, The Brothers Johnson, Ray Parker Jr., Stevie Wonder, and Bill Moss and The Celestials, of which his mother was an original member. APJ is the former Music Director and Saxophonist for The Paris Escovedo Project, led by Paris Escovedo of the famed Escovedo Family. He loves sharing his gifts with others and feels that music has a healing factor sorely needed in the world today.

Tyler Varnell and Stephen “Saxy” Herring alternate on Lead Saxophone and 2nd Keys.  When Tyler isn’t playing his sexy sax and keyboards for Private Eyes, he works as an award winning and nationally ranked wedding/events entertainer. He honed his formidable musical skills at Berklee’s College of Music as well as Pepperdine’s Jazz Ensemble.

Stephen has performed or recorded alongside established artists such as Melissa Manchester, Chazzy Green, Kaylee Bergin, Barley, and Cubensis. Stephen’s performances and compositions can be heard in Film & TV including the Sex & The City 2 promo for HP, Showtime’s Shameless, Bravo’s Odd Mom Out, The Lying Game, Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor, and Fox Sport’s coverage of NFL, NASCAR, and NHL games.

Now who can’t go for that?
