Masterworks 2 - Price & Mozart

We start with Mozart, we end with Mozart. Well, sort of: Jacques Ibert wrote his Homage a Mozart to celebrate the 200th birthday of the great composer. This energetic piece goes hand in hand with the master’s own Symphony No. 36, written for the Austrian city of Linz. In between we experience the American sounds of Florence Price’s Violin Concerto No.1 and we listen to arctic birds in Finish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Cantus Arcticus, a piece that incorporates recorded bird song into the orchestra.
