Jazz at the Filson is a three-part series of jazz presentations directed and curated by internationally recognized vibraphonist and composer Dick Sisto. Born in Chicago, Sisto studied with Chicago Symphony mallet maestro Jose Bethancourt and later with Vibe Master Gary Burton. Throughout his career, he has performed and recorded with numerous and current jazz stars including Fred Hersch, Kenny Werner, Bobby Broom, Dennis Irwin, Drew Gress, and Barry Ries, and served as music director of the Seelbach Jazz Bar, playing with Joe Morello, Joe and Pat Labarbera, Lyle Mays, Mulgrew Miller, Dave Samuels. This event will feature a reimagined repertoire of “holiday jazz” classics by Miles Davis, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Mel Torme, Dexter Gordon, Thad Jones, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and more. Sisto has assembled a seasoned group of internationally acclaimed musicians featuring:



Don Braden, tenor sax and flute - A world-class saxophonist, flutist, composer and educator, Don Braden’s jazz career has spanned over 40 years. He has toured the world with jazz greats Betty Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Tony Williams, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Haynes, and many others, and has performed in venues as diverse as Carnegie Hall, Saturday Night Live, Harvard University (where he studied Engineering as an undergrad), and countless jazz festivals and clubs. He has played on over 100 CDs as a sideman and has produced 23 as a leader, the most recent being his critically acclaimed Earth Wind and Wonder, the recently released In the Spirit of Herbie Hancock and Chemiatry, co-led with bassist Joris Teepe.
