Description

Executive produced by George Pelecanos (The Deuce) and David Simon (The Wire) -- and based on the book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton -- We Own This City is a six-hour, limited series chronicling the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department's Gun Trace Task Force. It examines the corruption and moral collapse that befell an American city in which the policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest were championed at the expense of actual police work.

Join us for a screening of We Own This City: Part One followed by a open community discussion. Cast, crew, and advisors from the production will be on hand to answer questions and hear your thoughts about the show in a conversation moderated by Keith Mehlinger, MFA Director, Screenwriting and Animation (SWAN) Program, Gilliam College of Liberal Arts at Morgan State University.

Panelists include George Pelecanos, Executive Producer & Writer; David Simon, Executive Producer & Writer; D. Watkins, Writer, Episode 103; Justin Fenton, Author of the book “We Own This City”; Darrell Britt-Gibson and Jamie Hector, cast members; Thea Washington, Casting Associate/ Community Consultant; and Reverend Dr. Alvin Hathaway, Beloved Community Services Corporation.

On behalf of HBO and the We Own This City production, it is with gratitude to the Maryland and Baltimore Film offices and the residents of Baltimore who made it possible for us to tell this story.
