Description

The Boone Dawdle brings together some of the best things in life—biking, music, food, nature, and film. It’s also a fun, outdoorsy way to show your support of Ragtag Film Society.

To dawdle means to take one’s time, to proceed slowly—and that’s a fine way to describe this lazy summertime expedition from our downtown Columbia home to the The Blufftop at Rocheport. Most of us will leisurely ride our bikes along the MKT and Katy Trails, finding intriguing Trailside Surprises along the way such as the Advice Machine, a trailside carnival, and many more—all accompanied by the sounds of busking musicians. (You can also choose to hop in your jalopy, or better yet, carpool to Les Bourgeois.)

Out at The Blufftop at Rocheport's Bistro, before sunset, we’ll serve up a delicious local food picnic-style dinner (complete with beer, wine, and other drinks) and enjoy a concert. Once the sun has dropped, we’ll all kick back on the hillside to enjoy an outdoor screening of a new cinematic revelation under the stars, looking out over the Missouri River valley. Then it’s onto the buses and home: onto hanging out at Ragtag Cinema and waiting out the days until True/False!

Party Pass (from $75)

What You Get: Admission to the party/concert/film plus the picnic and two drinks (good for beer and hard cider from Broadway Brewery and Schlafly, Les Bourgeois wine or non-alcoholic sparkling wine, Rocheport Distilling featured cocktail, or soda). Sorry, no T-shirt.

What to Bring: ID, a blanket (please, no lawn chairs!), a water bottle (there will be water stations for refilling), and cash, card or checks for raffle tickets.

Start Time and Location: Admission to the party begins at 6:00 pm and the dinner buffet will be open from 6:00-8:30pm. Go to the Blufftop Bistro at Les Bourgeois Winery, located at 14020 W. Hwy BB, Rocheport.

What You Don’t Get: Participation in the organized bike ride, T-shirt, transportation of your bike back to Columbia (this is only for Whole Shebang and Super Circle participants).

Raffle Tickets: If you pre-purchased raffle tickets, we’ll give them to you when you check in at the winery.

Whole Shebang (from $125)

What You Get: Organized group bike ride on the Katy Trail from Columbia to Les Bourgeois (about 16 miles), T-shirt, two drinks (good for beer and hard cider from Broadway Brewery and Schlafly, Les Bourgeois wine or non-alcoholic sparkling wine, Rocheport Distilling featured cocktail, or soda), local farm picnic, concerts, film, and a shuttle for you and your bike back to Columbia.

Admission: Bring your photo ID to Flat Branch Park, where you’ll receive your pass and T-shirt (no changing of sizes, please). Your pass will get you into the party; all you have to do is show it to the folks at the entrance and get it punched for food, drinks, and desserts.

Prep Your Bike: Pump up those tires, grease your chain, and pad your seat. In case you need some help with that, the friendly techs from Walt’s will be on-site at Flat Branch Park starting at 1pm. (Or stop by the store beforehand.)

Passport to Trailside Surprises: At registration, you’ll receive a passport to the trailside surprises. As you head down the trail, we encourage you to stop at each attraction to get your passport stamped. You can enter your completed passport into a drawing for two Whole Shebang tickets to next year’s Boone Dawdle. We encourage everyone to fill out their name and contact info before starting the ride.

Nobody Likes Hills: Awaiting you at the end of your ride is a steep and winding third-of-a-mile trek from the trail up, up, up to the winery. We expect you’ll be a little tuckered out by the time you get there, so we’ll have some Bike Hops waiting to carry your bike up the hill. Here’s the trick: you’ll want to select that option at check out (Whole Shebang + Bike Hop Services, or E-Bike if that's what you're riding).

Give Your Bike Away: When you reach the top of the hill, you’ll check your ride with our bike valets. Then you’re free to head to the party. Please note that any un-tagged bikes will be left at the winery, so be sure to get your bike tagged if you want us to bring it back to Flat Branch Park for you.

Getting Home: The shuttles will be waiting for you once the movie is over to take you back to Flat Branch Park in Columbia, where you’ll reclaim your bike with your claim ticket. Please pick up your bike no later than 12:15am on Sunday morning. The last shuttle leaves at 11:45pm!

Bike Hops Services: If you pre-purchased Bike Hops Services, we’ll give you a special coupon for them when you check in, as well as your raffle tickets.
