LOOK Art Auction
Exhibition Opening
Friday, May 13, 6 – 9PM
Please join us, Friday, May 13 from 6 – 9PM for the opening reception of LOOK, an exhibition of works from many of the country’s most significant artists, generously donated for our annual live and silent art auctions. With painting, sculpture, and photography spanning decades of practice, the exhibition includes a wide diversity of artwork by renowned artists such as Kent Monkman, Angela Grossmann, Edward Burtynsky, Carol Wainio, Ted Godwin, Joane Cardinal-Schubert, John Hall, Diana Thorneycroft, Corrie-Lynn Tetz and many more. We are also honoured to feature the work of Cathy Daley, Harry Kiyooka and Mary Shannon Will, three much beloved artists who passed away recently but leave a lasting legacy. The auction will be installed at the gallery from May 13 through June 10 to invite the community to view these amazing works and to provide the opportunity to place bids on the silent auction items in advance of the LOOK Gala on June 11.
The LOOK art auction is sponsored by Heather Bala Edwards & kd lang, and supported by Deborah Herringer Kiss as auction chair. We are pleased to welcome Brett Sherlock, Christie’s International Consultant, as auctioneer, who will help us find loving homes for the more than fifty works on display. LOOK would not be possible without the extraordinary support of the artists and the many dealers, sponsors, committee members, donors and collectors who recognize the value of arts and culture and the importance of philanthropy. All proceeds from the LOOK art auction directly fund artists and the host of programming on offer at Contemporary Calgary.
