1952 -Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, Debbie Reynolds- Quite possibly the best musical ever made, Singin’ in the Rain is beautiful, full of great tunes and loads of fun. It pokes fun at the early days of movies, with nuggets of Hollywood lore finding their way into the story. Spectacular Technicolor cinematography is boosted by colorful costumes and production design. A must for every movie fan. On Saturday, November 4th, our 2:30 matinee will be introduced by Catherine Jurca, Professor of English and Visual Culture at Caltech, where she teaches courses on Classical Hollywood. She is the author of Hollywood 1938: Motion Pictures Greatest Year. After the conclusion of the matinee, she will stay for an informative mini-lecture and Q&A from the audience.
