Movie Review Rewind: Bridesmaids (2011) - SoBros Network

Annie (Kristen Wiig) is a single woman whose own life is a mess, but when she learns that her lifelong best friend, Lillian (Maya Rudolph), is engaged, she has no choice but to serve as the maid of honor. Though lovelorn and almost penniless, Annie, nevertheless, winds her way through the strange and expensive rituals associated with her job as the bride's go-to gal. Determined to make things perfect, she gamely leads Lillian and the other bridesmaids down the wild road to the wedding.

"A marriage of genuine characters, gross out gags, and pathos, Bridesmaids is a female-driven comedy that refuses to be boxed in as Kristen Wiig emerges as a real star."

"Hallelujah and praise the Lord for Paul Feig's Bridesmaids, a movie we've been awaiting for what feels like forever."

"Finally, a female ensemble comedy that balances realistic characters with smart laughs and side-splitting farce."
Empire Magazine

"That rarest of treats: an R-rated romantic comedy from the Venus point of view."
Los Angeles Times

"It definitively proves that women are the equal of men in vulgarity, sexual frankness, lust, vulnerability, overdrinking and insecurity."
Roger Ebert

"Bridesmaids turns the gross-out comedy genre on its head and emerges bigger and better than its predecessors. It boasts unforgettable breakout performances and is the most important comedy of the year. And the best."
Sydney Morning Herald

"The full horror of being a bridesmaid is shown, but Wiig persuades you there is something genuinely loving and sisterly to be found at the end of this incredible ordeal."
