Description

Ben Rosenblum's "The Nebula Project" dives deeply into Rosenblum's jazz and world-infused original compositions, exploring the intersection of jazz and improvised American music with global styles ranging from Bulgaria to the Caribbean. The all-star sextet of musicians includes unusual and unique instrumentation opportunities - Rosenblum's switches between piano and accordion, and the horn player doubles on sax and bass clarinet, leading to a wide variety of possibilities.

Ben is based primarily in New York City and is a graduate of the Columbia-Juilliard program. His original music combines his extensive knowledge of the history of jazz with a free-wheeling, modern melodic sensibility, and powerful narrative approach to the piano. His profound passion for jazz, swing and world music genres finds expression in his unique fusion of harmonic and rhythmic elements from a wide array of sources and gives rise to a signature compositional sound and style at once iconoclastic and deeply rooted in such figures as Bill Evans and Wynton Kelly. Ben's priority in his composition and in his playing is to tell a compelling story with his music, while reaching the hearts of his audience, connecting on an emotional, an intellectual and a spiritual level.

In 2020, the Nebula Project was voted runner-up for Best New Artist in JazzTimes' Readers' Poll. Rosenblum has shared the stage with many highly acclaimed jazz musicians, including extensive work with Curtis Lundy, Winard Harper, Deborah Davis and Chris Washburne, and many others.
