RETURNING FOR 2022! As the days grow short, nothing is quite so comforting as the flicker of candlelight as it keeps the darkness at bay. For 18th and 19th century Americans, candle-lit illuminations, sometimes known as transparencies, were used to cheer, entertain, and celebrate. Returning this holiday season after a smashing 2021 debut, we're reviving the old tradition in partnership with the Biggs Museum of American Art, who will host an illumination station, and the Governor's staff at Woodburn to light the night with this unique art form. Stroll the grounds, enjoy the stately home's decorations, admire the gathered illuminations, listen to music, sip warming hot cocoa...there is so much waiting to revive your spirits during this one-night-only special event.

Create your own illuminations to add to Woodburn Illuminated by visiting the Biggs Museum Wednesday-Sunday beginning December 3. In our Child Help Studio you can learn about stained glass and create your own stained glass inspired illumination.

Didn't make it to The Biggs before the big day? You can find our hands-on studio at Woodburn Illuminated from 5:30-7:30pm.
