Welcome to
Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all ladies who are
“anybody” come to have their hair done. Aided by her eager new assistant,
Annelle, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and advice to the town’s rich
curmudgeon Ouiser; an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee; the local social
leader, M’Lynn; and her daughter, Shelby, the “prettiest girl in town.” Filled
with hilarious repartee and revealing verbal collisions, this play speaks to
the underlying strength—and love—of true friendship.
