Tonight we begin by celebrating
the depth of woodwind talent in our province, with two sparkling virtuoso works
by Doppler and Poulenc. Then, the incredible precociousness of William Walton's
Façade. At the age of just twenty, Walton captured the spirit of the 1920s in
these settings of riotously funny surrealist poems by the ultra-eccentric Edith
Sitwell.
