Before he leaves on holiday, Tymoteusz, a talented pianist and student of the Warsaw Academy of Music, returns home to reconnect with his brother and the friends who have stayed behind, quickly settling into the nostalgia and comfort of his small, rural hometown, where time seems to have stood still. The central hangout spot is a new kebab bar, run by two Arab immigrants, and when Tymoteusz gets friendly with the employee Yousef, a conflict begins to brew – and tensions mount. Winner of Best Film at the Polish Film Festival, Damian Kocur’s unflinching debut feature, inspired by a true story, stars non-actors and has a documentary-like feel, making the inevitable, explosive conclusion all the more devastating.
