Daria is a young, naive heroin addict. To kick the habit given to her by her first love, she is sent to a stark, grim rehab facility by her parents. Terrified, Daria is met by the hostile, mostly male patient population, but her perceived innocence gains her protection from their aggression and allows her to forge tenuous, complicated relationships with her fellow junkies. Anchored by Ana Dumitrascu’s remarkable performance as Daria, IMMACULAT is a disquieting cinematic experience and an empathetic portrait of addiction and recovery. Winner of Best Debut Film at the Venice Film Festival – and Romania’s submission for Academy Award consideration.
