Description

BLUF: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is encroaching into all arenas of humanity. Help us prepare for the future at this pseudo-research / fundraising event benefitting local comp sci students of a public high school.

Who: Enochs High School’s Software and System Development (SSD) Pathway. What: A case study: Is the film Short Circuit a slightly problematic cinema gem, a para-documentary loosely based in fact, or the unacknowledged prequel to Terminator? Founded in 1942, Defense Contractor Nova Robotics has created several weapons of war. In 1986 the company enlists Dr. Newton Crosby to create the Strategic Artificially Intelligent Nuclear Transport (S.A.I.N.T). The fifth, and ultimate, iteration of S.A.I.N.T will be our focus. Through questionable accounts of a vague mishap, S.A.I.N.T # 5, gains consciousness and determines it is no longer a machine, but a person. Like any person it fights for its survival, but more importantly S.A.I.N.T # 5 serves as a harbinger of the future that Enoch’s students will help the world prepare for.

In addition to the film, we will have drinks, a spectrum of high-level and low-level discussion, presentations from students, industry, and central valley alumni who grew up to live in the AI world.

When: April 19th from 5:30 – 8:45 pm Where: At the State Theater and the deepest corners of your imagination.

Why: Science fiction becomes science fact. What is the difference between the SAINT #5 and the Terminator? Did Sarah Conner name her son as homage to a notable encounter with Johnny 5? Did the robots from the new Save Mart disappear overnight to form a sleeper cell? These are just some of the questions you will be able to ask during our Q&A after the show.

What can be done:

Course of Action #1: Attend this event and help raise funds for the Enochs SSD pathway students. Help us provide a better future for both the SSD Pathway and hopefully all of humanity in perpetuity. We plan to continue this as a series in the future should our benevolent robot overlords allow.

Course of Action #2: Inaction is an action itself. Begin to put your damage control plan in place. Purchase clothing that will mask your heat signature from the infrared imaging of the coming Chat GpTerminator. Walk on all fours to throw off the visual gait recognition indicators of Skynet.
