Showings

Description

In this workshop participants will learn the essentials of working with Super 8 film, Kodak’s
beloved home movie format which was first introduced in 1965. Super 8 cameras and
projectors are plentiful and come in a variety of designs and forms, and there are more film
stocks available today than there were when the format was first introduced more than 50
years ago. This incredible variety and accessibility is one of the most compelling reasons to
love Super 8, but can also be a major source of frustration for the uninitiated. Participants in
this course will learn about the strengths and weaknesses of Super 8 film and how to best
approach their projects in this format to achieve excellent results. Working hands-on and as
a group we will shoot and hand-process black and white Super 8 film using non-toxic, coffee
based developer and explore analogue editing and projection on film. Equipment will be
provided, but those who already have a Super 8 camera are encouraged to bring it along
and become better acquainted it.
