Description

This workshop will introduced participants to eco-processing and methods for making
moving images on celluloid film entirely without the use of a camera or lens. As a group we
will explore the potentialities of lumen printing, and phytography which leverage the action
of sunlight and the internal chemistry of plants to render high contrast impressions and
pastel colours on black and white film. Working with 16mm film, found or foraged materials
and sundry chemicals that can be purchased at the grocery store we will explore the
fundamental concepts of contact printing and working with organic and plant-based
materials for film processing, spending two days experimenting with these methods hands-
on. Finally, by the end of second day, we will have the opportunity to see the images we’ve
made, projected on 16mm film.
