FILM PREMIERE AND Q&A WITH THE FILMMAKER
Headley Whitney Museum, in collaboration with FBN Motion Pictures and The Kentucky Theatre, presents Henry Faulkner: Poetry in Paint, a portrait of Kentucky artist Henry Lawrence Faulkner. Born in 1924, Faulkner led a tragic but triumphant life — orphaned at two, committed to St. Elizabeth's Psychiatric Hospital at 25, and killed in an automobile accident at only 57. A cross-dressing blues singer, a poet, and the creator of more than 5,000 paintings of extraordinary beauty and originality, Faulkner was a ground-breaking and openly gay icon of 1950's Lexington. In the words of painter and musician Rodney Hatfield, "Henry Faulkner's greatest work of art may have been being Henry."
