ABOUT THE ARTIST

Dan Welden is an internationally famous printmaker, educator and inventor of the solar plate printing process. He has secured his place in art history for the breathtaking roster of famous artists with whom he has collaborated; Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Motherwell, Kiki Smith, de Kooning, Flavin, Fischl and Lynda Benglis.\par \par Familiar themes run though his paintings and prints, drawing connections between landscape and abstraction. His paintings begin intuitively, with simple forms, and broad areas of color, gradually becoming more refined and delicate. His results are paintings rich in mystery, subtle layers, and a sophisticated color sensibility.
