Studio North is Johns Hopkins University’s student-run film production company. The films included in this program, return 0; and I Will Enjoy This Food, won the Film Production Grant from Studio North in 2022.
The gripping tale of an android detective as she attempts to solve the murder of a wealthy socialite. The Detective, with her advanced AI capabilities, analyzes the clues and pieces the mystery together before confronting the primary suspect of the case, Sara Cunningham. What follows is a chess match of wills and wits, where Sara will unveil a shocking truth that will shake the foundations of the Detective’s reality and her perception of it. A film with sci-fi roots and themes, “return 0;” wrestles with the growing ramifications of artificial intelligence and what it means to truly be human.
