Bluegrass Spirits is a dramatic comedy, feature-length film about Kentucky, Kentucky Bourbon, Kentucky folks, and ghosts.
Written, directed, and produced by Jonny Walls and co-produced by Aaron Champion, this film stars Jake Busey (Stranger Things, The Predator, Starship Troopers) as Nicholas, a recovering alcoholic who owns a failing bourbon distillery. When he meets a ghost-hunter, their views on belief and disbelief come to a head. Nicholas allows the ghost hunter to run a tour of the distillery, which is said to be haunted, in exchange for a portion of the profits.
Through a series of ghost hunts around the Bluegrass, which are equal parts hilarious and emotional, the two are forced to confront their own personal “ghosts”.

Bluegrass Spirits was filmed in and around Lexington, Kentucky, with a large portion of the film shot at Hartfield & Co., a craft bourbon distillery in Paris, Kentucky. Cast members include Rogelio Douglas Jr. (Orange is the New Black, Straight Outta Compton), Nellie Barnett, and Brianne Cordaro.
Bluegrass Spirits is Walls’ and Champion’s second feature film collaboration after the 2015 comedy feature Couch Survivor. Joining Walls again as Director of Photography is another Couch Survivor alum, Mark Farney.
Bluegrass Spirits is Walls’ third feature film. He also wrote and directed the buddy/road-trip comedy All About the Afterglow. Both Couch Survivor and All About the Afterglow played at The Kentucky Theatre.
