Description

Afghan refugee Donya lives in Fremont but works at a fortune cookie factory in San Francisco. Seeking connection, she decides to send a message out to the world through a cookie in this off beat vision of the universal longing for home.

What the critics are saying:

It’s the kind of independent film which we haven’t seen a lot of lately, endowed with intimacy and a kind of dreamy charm.

Peter Bradshaw

Guardian

Fremont has the feel of a hip indie movie from the 1980s heyday of Jim Jarmusch: shot in black and white with a wry, absurdist eye.

Danny Leigh

Financial Times

Babak Jalali's assured black-and-white indie drama strikes a beautiful tone with a deadpan sense of humor, aided by Anaita Wali Zada's quietly poignant performance.
