The Artist Development Incubator Workshop is a series of high-level conversations with artists, producers, and other industry leaders, hosted by John J. Thompson, Lipscomb’s Director of Music Industry Studies and the founder of TrueTunes.com and the True Tunes Podcast.
Mark Needham (www.markneedham.com) is an L.A. and Nashville based Producer and Mixer whose work includes albums and singles for Dolly Parton, Imagine Dragons, Chris Tomlin, The Killers, Blue October, Mt. Joy, Newsboys, Fleetwood Mac, Pink, Neon Trees, Shakira, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, 5 Seconds of Summer, The Airbourne Toxic Event and many, many more. He has worked with a wide variety of acts from different genres, including Bruce Hornsby, blues legend Charles Brown, and jazz greats Pharoah Sanders, Nat Adderley and Cedar Walton.
Needham discovered and developed Imagine Dragons and The Killers and his early work with that band became the multi-platinum album Hot Fuss. "Mr. Brightside" was recorded in just a few hours and mixed by Needham on a 12-channel Neve in about 40 minutes.
Needham has been nominated for 11 Grammy Awards and has made major contributions to dozens of RIAA-certified Gold and platinum albums and singles.
