Confronted with a terminal diagnosis, renowned neurologist and author Oliver Sacks reminisces about his struggles with drug addiction and homophobia and the reluctance he faced from the medical establishment about his innovative approach to cognition research. Featuring interviews from family members, close friends, colleagues, and patients along with drawing upon the extensive archives of the Oliver Sacks Foundation, this documentary offers an exemplary portrait of the brilliant mind Oliver Sacks.
This screening will be preceded by a lecture from Dr. David Beversdorf, Professor of Radiology, Neurology, and Psychological Sciences and the William and Nancy Thompson Endowed Chair in Radiology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
