Mount Desert Island has a rich history of hiking trails with unique craftsmanship. Preserve Land Steward Ed Hawes will lead this walk introducing the art of trail building within the Land and Garden Preserve. Participants will see what it takes to design and build a sustainable trail, hear the history of local trail building, look at our trail restoration projects, and get a hands-on demonstration of stone shaping.
1- 3 p.m.
Walking distance will be up to 1.5 miles on hiking trails with some elevation. Sturdy walking shoes recommended.
$5 minimum donation for members.
$10 minimum donation for non-members.
