    Description

A pair of common loons nest at Little Long Pond and with luck raise one or two chicks each summer. This series is designed for participants to follow a loon family through chick rearing. Pariticipants are encouraged to sign up for all 3 field walks, if possible, as multiple visits will provide deeper insight into their ecology.
    9 - 10 a.m.

Billy Helprin, Director of Somes-Meynell Wildlife Sanctuary, will teach us about loon diets, behaviors, interactions with other species, physical adaptations, and conservation concerns. Billy runs the MDI Loon monitoring project and is an expert in our local loons.
